Post Hole Drilling Services — Fort Worth & Parker County

Fast, accurate post hole drilling for fences, gates and structural foundations — hydraulic augers that laugh at North Texas clay.

North Texas ground is famously hostile to hand digging — sun-baked clay in summer, rock shelves where you least expect them. Red’s Mobile Welding runs hydraulic post hole drilling rigs that put clean, plumb holes exactly where your project needs them, at a fraction of the time and cost of manual digging.

We drill for our own fence and gate projects every week, and we offer the same service standalone: for contractors, DIY fence builders, deck and pergola projects, sign installations and structural piers.

Why Professional Drilling Beats Rental Augers

A rented one-man auger meets its match about 18 inches into July clay — and it can’t fix a hole that wanders off plumb. Our hydraulic rigs deliver consistent depth and diameter, hole after hole, with down-pressure that pushes through hardpan and rock augers for the shelves along the western side of the Metroplex.

For fence contractors and serious DIY builds, we’ll drill your whole line to spec in an afternoon: consistent spacing, marked utilities respected, spoil piled or hauled as you prefer.

Depth Matters More Than You Think

The clay soils in Parker and Tarrant Counties swell and shrink dramatically with moisture. Posts set shallow ride that movement — which is why so many fences lean within a few years. We drill below the active zone (typically 30–42 inches for fence posts, deeper for gates and structures) so your posts stay put.

Call 811 utility locates are part of our process on every job; we drill after lines are marked, never before.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does post hole drilling cost?
Standalone drilling in our area typically runs $20–$50 per hole depending on diameter, depth, soil and hole count — production fence lines price lower per hole, rock work higher. Tell us the count and location for a free firm quote.
How deep should fence posts be in North Texas?
At least one-third of the post's above-ground height, and never less than 30 inches in our clay soils — 36–42 inches for gate and corner posts. Depth below the clay's moisture-movement zone is what keeps fences from leaning.
Can you drill through rock?
Yes. Our rigs run rock augers and down-pressure that handle the limestone shelves common west of Fort Worth. Genuine solid-rock drilling costs more per hole; we'll tell you before we start, not after.
Do you locate utilities before drilling?
Always. We work with Texas 811 utility locating on every project and drill only after lines are marked. Never let anyone drill on your property without locates.
Can you set the posts too?
Yes — most customers have us drill, set posts plumb in concrete, and even build the fence. But if you just want holes for a DIY project, we're happy to drill and go.
